BAFL, or Blue Mountains AFL, is on Radio Blue Mountains 89.1 at 9pm on Monday nights.
The show is an off-kilter take all things Australian Rules in the Blue Mountains and Western Sydney and will feature AFL news, results and interviews for all shades of the sporting code: men’s and women’s, juniors to seniors, professional to amateurs, players, pie sellers, and everyone in between. The show covers the Auburn Penrith Giants, the Penrith Rams and the Blue Mountains Kangaroos in particular, because local footy is the best.
The four hosts have serious AFL opinions and are not afraid to use them. The show will focus on the heart of the AFL, New South Wales, and will look with disdain on any non-New South Wales teams or players.
The team includes well known Blue Mountains loud mouth El Gibbs, despite her being a Carlton fan, Chris Dubrow and Andre Matkovic who are both Katoomba based musicians with a passion for the GWS Giants, and actual footballer, Kizz Boyd, formerly of the Auburn Penrith Giants. The four have been AFL fans for decades, watching any game, anywhere and have an opinion about it. The show will look at every part of the AFL – from local Blue Mountains Juniors teams, to the AFL Womens, to the NEAFL and will be your essential guide to the GWS Giants every week on their way to another Grand Final.
BAFL will also push live music and events, particularly for local bands and local tours. BAFL will play mostly Australian music, particularly if they are coming here. Unless Andre wins the argument to play the odd obscure math rock band from Finland.
